Vhs Reporter
Does anyone know how I can take video that has been recorded on my DVR and place it on a DVD or a VHS?

I have Comcast DVR and I am wondering if I record something on it can I place it on a DVD or a VHS. If so PLEASE tell me how. My cousin is a reporter and she was on Fox News and I want to save the video of her

You can capture video from the Comcast DVR to a computer via the FireWire port. Then you can do interesting things with it such as burn it to a DVD. This is preferable to using the DVR's analog outputs because everything stays in the digital domain.

You need several pieces of software
1. a device driver for the DVR
2. a capture program to get the stream from the DVR to the PC
3. optional player to watch the program on your PC
4. optional program to create a DVD with titles and chapters

See the link below for full instructions.

Of course, if you only plan to do this once, you don't need any of this, just connect the inputs of a DVD recorder or VHS recorder to the outputs of the DVR. Play the program on the DVR and record on the recording device.
